Why Your Fuel System Matters
Horsepower is easy to chase. Reliability is much harder to build.
Whether your goal is a responsive street car, a weekend drag racer, or a four-digit horsepower Camaro, every increase in airflow must be matched by an equally capable fuel system. Unfortunately, that's where many builds begin to fall short.
It's common to focus on the exciting modifications first, a smaller blower pulley, a camshaft, a larger supercharger, and a custom tune, while assuming the factory fuel system will simply keep up. In reality, every one of those upgrades increases the engine's demand for fuel. Once that demand exceeds the capacity of the factory system, fuel pressure begins to fall, injector duty cycle increases, and the margin of safety becomes progressively smaller.
Unlike an airflow restriction, which often limits peak horsepower, an inadequate fuel system can have much more serious consequences. Lean air/fuel ratios, unstable fuel pressure, detonation, and excessive component stress can quickly turn an otherwise healthy engine into an expensive repair.
The good news is that Chevrolet's Gen V LT fuel system provides an outstanding foundation for performance enthusiasts. A high-performance HPFP cannot compensate for an undersized low-side pump that struggles to keep it supplied with fuel. Why the Low-Side Fuel System Comes First

This is why experienced LT builders almost always evaluate the low side before recommending any other fuel system upgrade. If the foundation isn't capable of supporting your horsepower goals, every component downstream is forced to work harder while delivering diminishing returns.
As airflow increases through modifications such as a smaller supercharger pulley, ported blower, aftermarket camshaft, or larger supercharger, fuel demand rises proportionally. Converting to E85 compounds that demand even further, since ethanol requires approximately 30 percent more fuel volume than premium gasoline to achieve the same air/fuel ratio.
Eventually, the factory in-tank fuel pump reaches its limit. At that point, the high-pressure fuel pump begins receiving less fuel than it needs to maintain consistent pressure, particularly during extended wide-open throttle pulls or high-RPM operation.

Compared to the standard LT1 pump, the LT4 unit delivers increased fuel capacity while maintaining factory drivability, OEM durability, and seamless integration with the factory engine management system. It's an excellent upgrade for naturally aspirated LT1 builds, as well as moderate LT4 combinations equipped with common bolt-on modifications such as smaller supercharger pulleys, cold air intakes, exhaust systems, and professional calibrations.
Its greatest strength is balance.
Rather than introducing unnecessary complexity, the OEM LT4 pump provides additional fueling capacity while preserving the refinement expected from a factory-engineered component. A larger high-pressure fuel pump doesn't automatically create more horsepower. Its purpose is to maintain adequate fuel pressure as engine demand increases. If the factory pump is still capable of meeting your combination's fueling requirements, installing a larger HPFP may provide little measurable benefit. However, once fuel demand exceeds the factory pump's capacity, maintaining consistent pressure becomes critical for both performance and engine safety.

From what we know now (as the kit is still very new) is that it appears to be a great option for guys wanting to make 950rwhp or less on E85.
