Control the Valves. Control the Power.
Every camshaft is only as effective as the valve springs controlling it.
No matter how aggressive your camshaft profile is, how much airflow your cylinder heads produce, or how much boost your supercharger makes, the engine cannot make reliable horsepower if the valves fail to follow the camshaft accurately. Valve float, valve bounce, and unstable valve motion rob power, limit RPM, accelerate component wear, and can quickly lead to catastrophic engine damage.
That's why Brian Tooley Racing has become one of the most respected names in high-performance valvetrain components.
Engineered specifically for today's demanding Gen V LT engine combinations, BTR Dual Valve Spring Kits deliver the seat pressure, open pressure, and valve control required for aggressive camshafts, increased RPM, and elevated spring loads. Their dual spring design provides superior control over valve motion compared to single spring configurations, helping maintain stable valve operation while improving durability and extending valvetrain life in both street and racing applications.
Whether you're building a naturally aspirated street car, a supercharged LT4, or a dedicated competition engine, these spring kits provide the confidence to rev higher, make more reliable horsepower, and protect your investment.
Why Choose Dual Valve Springs?
Modern high-performance engines place tremendous demands on the valvetrain. As engine speed increases, inertia attempts to keep the valves open longer than the camshaft intends. Without sufficient spring pressure and damping, the valvetrain can experience:
Valve float
Valve bounce
Loss of valve control
Reduced horsepower
Hydraulic lifter instability
Accelerated component wear
Potential piston-to-valve contact
A properly engineered dual valve spring package provides increased spring control, improved harmonic damping, and greater stability at elevated RPM, allowing the entire valvetrain to operate more accurately and reliably.
Simply put: Stable valve control creates reliable horsepower.
Available Spring Kits
SK008 — Dual Valve Spring Kit (.660" Lift)
Designed for Gen V LT engines utilizing OEM valve guides, the SK008 kit is ideal for the vast majority of street performance and head/cam combinations using camshafts up to approximately .660" valve lift.
Ideal for:
Street performance
Head & cam packages
Supercharged LT4 applications
Naturally aspirated LT1 builds
Daily-driven performance vehicles
SK008/BZ — Dual Valve Spring Kit (.660" Lift)
Offers the same proven performance as the SK008 while utilizing retainers and components designed for bronze valve guide applications commonly found in aftermarket cylinder heads and professionally machined performance heads.
SK704/0520/BB — Dual Valve Spring Kit (.685" Lift)
Designed for OEM valve guide applications requiring additional valve lift and increased spring pressure. The SK704 series is engineered for aggressive camshaft profiles up to approximately .685" valve lift, delivering excellent valve control for high-horsepower, high-RPM combinations.
SK704/6560/BB — Dual Valve Spring Kit (.685" Lift)
Built specifically for bronze valve guide cylinder heads, this kit delivers the same high-performance characteristics as the SK704/0520/BB while providing the proper hardware configuration for aftermarket cylinder heads utilizing bronze guides.
Features
Premium dual valve spring design
Engineered specifically for Gen V LT engines
Excellent valve control at elevated RPM
Supports aggressive camshaft profiles
Improved harmonic damping compared to single springs
Precision-matched spring packages
Premium retainers and hardware
Designed to reduce valve float and valve bounce
Proven in thousands of high-performance street and race engines
GMS Notes
Valve spring selection is about much more than maximum valve lift. Installed height, spring pressures, retainer selection, valve guide material, coil bind clearance, hydraulic lifter preload, intended engine RPM, and the camshaft's acceleration rates all play a critical role in long-term valve-train reliability.
If you're purchasing a camshaft from Griffin Motorsports, we'll help you select the proper spring package for your specific combination, not simply the spring with the highest lift rating.
For maximum reliability, we recommend pairing your BTR Dual Valve Spring Kit with BTR Chromoly Pushrods, BTR OEM Rocker Arms with the TK002 Trunnion Upgrade, and ARP Rocker Arm Studs to create a complete, race-proven valvetrain system capable of handling everything from daily driving to high-boost competition engines.
Note; our goal is to always keep these products in stock for quick ship, but some orders may need to drop ship direct from BTR.
Because, valve springs don't make horsepower, they allow your engine to keep the horsepower your camshaft was designed to produce - Gabe Griffin
