Upgraded LT4 Supercharger Intercooler Bricks

For those who know our story, we have been laser focused on helping our beloved LT4 owners get the most out of their OEM 1.7L blowers since day one. Getting more power out of these blowers is easy, but mitigating the intake air temps is not. Which is where our focus began when we started to develop what would soon become our Stage.III Super Charger Cooling Package. Armed with lots of auxillary diagnostic tools and sensors we set out to maximize the effectiveness of the OEM HX System. We achieved this by removing as many restrictions as possible, adding capacity and improving the hardware responsible for thermal conversion. The result is a HX system that helps the little OEM pump flow a whopping 54% more gallons per minute, while adding 815% more fluid to help fight against heat soaking the fluid responsible for getting heat OUT of the intake charge.
And that brings us to the final piece of the puzzle. The supercharger bricks.
For those who have fiddled with the OEM blower / bricks, you can agree that they are not only small, but Eaton did not give us much room to expand their size within the 1.7L casting. With the rest of our system working near peak efficiency it was time turn our attention to the pesky bricks. After a few weeks of designing different size and angle options in my garage it was time to call our friends at CSF for yet another cooling solution. It didn’t take long to get them on board, and just a few days later I was making the drive up to the CSF headquarters to have my freshly KONG ported 1.7L blower 3D scanned, so they could carry my design intent the rest of the way… and boy did they!
After two months or so, we had a full size 3D printed mock up that was just about ready for functional prototyping utilizing their recent investment in intercooler core manufacturing. Luckily CSF saw the value in helping us bring this to market, so with their extensive industry resources and experience, it was not long before we had the first functional model that was ready for bench testing.
Although we still have one more functional design revision to finish, the first set of functional prototypes is on my car now, and undergoing street testing (results to follow). Until then, I can share with you that the initial bench testing results are fantastic. Rising almost 50% taller than the OEM units, and holding nearly 70% more fluid, these CSF built 1.7L Supercharger Intercooler bricks also allowed the HX Coolant to flow 12.5% more GPM over the OEM units on our 1,000hp SHOP CAR that is currently running our Stage.III Super Charger Cooling System. All facts that will help them pull more heat out if the intake charge, providing you more cooling headway to keep those dreaded manifold air temps at bay, in order to delay or prevent timing from being pulled when it matters most.

Why the bricks matter so much:
Simply put, the LT4 supercharger intercooler bricks are solely responsible for pulling heat out of the intake charge, into the HX coolant, for the rest of the front mount heat exchangers to exchange the heat once again, in order to provide as low of a coolant temp as possible, to enter back into the bricks in order to do it all again. That is why the bricks have always been the weak link of the system, UNTIL NOW!
Understanding that O-ring seal leaks, and lack of 3rd party results have been issues plaguing other brands attempting to bring similar solutions to market, CSF went to great lengths to ensure a proper fit, and proven results before they would release to production. CSF even went as far to purchase a 1.7L blower to send to the factory so each new intercooler brick could be pressure and seal tested, in the intended location using pressurized helium gas (which has 36% smaller molicules than water) in order to ensure a tight fit, every time.
