GESI GEN.2 UHO Catalytic Converters

from $645.00

The High-Flow Converter Built for Modern Power Levels

The GESi GEN2 UHO 85230 is engineered for high-output forced-induction builds where exhaust flow, durability, and emissions compliance all have to coexist. Heck, I know ZL1 owners that run these even when they DON’T have emission concerns just due to the major reduction in exhaust smell, exhaust volume and the dreaded drone. Most importantly, if you're making more that 600rwhp on a standard high-flow cat, you may already be in the danger zone with potential engine killing filament folding.

Unlike traditional “high-flow” ceramic cats that fold and flatten under higher boost levels, melt under higher thermal load, or clog over time, the GEN2 UHO series uses a 400 CPSI S-Wound metallic substrate, full 304 stainless steel construction, and GESi’s proprietary high-temperature precious metal loading to survive situations that destroy normal converters.

I wish I had all of the features in the first set of cats for our 2022 Camaro ZL1 1LE shop car back when we invested in our first set of headers. Unfortunately, the cheap cats that came with our first header system were literally folding over on both banks once we hit 660rwhp. Luckily we found the problem early before it ruined the engine.

Before I invested in the GESI UHP 4.5” cats I wanted to first make sure I needed them. So we removed the cats and planned to drive the can a few weeks to see if we could live without them, and if I remember correctly, we didn’t even need to drive the car 10 miles before it became crystal clear that the increase in volume, exhaust smell, and drone were NOT going to work.

Thankfully a friend referred me to GESI G-Sport and we now have a set of catalytic converters that will support over 1,500hp which provides a tremendous amount of peace of mind as we apply more and more power to the car.

Why This Converter Outperforms “High-Flow” Knockoffs

400 CPSI Metallic Core – Not Ceramic
A ceramic core can’t handle the heat load of modern turbo or supercharged engines. Metallic S-wound cores resist thermal shock, vibration, and pressure spikes — which means it doesn’t crack, collapse, or turn into rubble inside your exhaust.

Heat-Rated for Real-World Abuse
GEN2 models are engineered to withstand continuous high-load exhaust temps and rapid heat cycling found in road course use, dyno tuning, and rolling-anti-lag / 2-step applications.

Flow Without Back-Pressure Penalty
Lower restriction at the substrate = faster spool, less drive pressure, more mid-range torque, better top-end efficiency — especially on boosted applications where every psi matters.

OBD2 & Check-Engine-Light Safe
When installed correctly, GEN2 converters retain OBD2 readiness and drastically reduce catalyst-efficiency CELs that plague generic high-flow cats.

Built for Fabricators
Compact 7″ length + 3.0″ in/out = easy placement in tight engine bays, downpipes, mid-pipes, side-exit, or aftermarket exhaust routing.

If you’ve ever melted a core, clogged a cheap converter, or welded in a test pipe out of frustration, this is the part you use instead of that problem.

About GESi & G-Sport — Real Racing, Real Engineering, Real Results

The reason GESi converters survive in power levels that destroy “high-flow” parts is simple: the people building them are racers solving their own problems.

Founded by Eric Latino — record-breaking NHRA driver and co-owner of KB Titan Racing — GESi has been manufacturing proprietary metallic catalytic substrates in-house since 2001. When ceramic cores kept failing in high-horsepower applications, GESi didn’t outsource a solution — they engineered one from scratch, built for racing first, compliance second.

Today, the brand’s development is pushed even harder by Matt Latino, NHRA Pro Stock driver and G-Sport Director of Business Development, who regularly tests converters in 1,200+ hp race programs before they ever reach the street aftermarket.

This is why G-Sport converters are trusted by: Fabricators, Tuning shops, Performance exhaust manufacturers and OEM-level race teams.

You're not buying a generic “high-flow cat.” You're buying the only emissions-legal converter proven at the drag strip, on the dyno, and under full load on road courses.

FAQ (frequently asked questions)

Which part number is right for me?

This is the easy part… making less than 800rwhp with no plans to make more? then you will be fine with the smaller 4” OD 50230. Making more than 800rwhp? Then we highly suggest investing in the cats we run on our car… the UHO 4.5” 85230 that have an official rating of 850hp per cat.

Are these easy to install?

For the guy in his garage… NO. These are sold in a modular format making it easy for your local exhaust fabricator to weld on some pipe extensions will ball joints or V-bands like we did on our car.

Are these CARB compliant?

YES, these are complaint and EPA approved for 2017+ OBD2 vehicles (49-state legal) Not Legal in California.

Why do you sell these in a 6-pack?

Because we support install shops and exhaust fabricators also, and let’s face it, investing in the most high quality parts always feels expensive, so we try to offer bundle deals whenever we can, and this is the perfect example of how shops can save $60 per cat, when purchasing 6 at a time.

Do these really help with the exhaust smell / volume?

100% as I mentioned about, I could not get these on my car fast enough once I bolted up some race pipes. The volume, drone and smell were just too much for me, and quickly became distracting.

Why are these so expensive?

Simple, because they are the only catalytic converter engineered to thrive in the high heat, high boost environment thats is downstream of an 800+ rwhp vehicle that is growing ever more popular. Trust me, I feel your pain… which is why we love making bundle deals. So if you need a replacement set of cats, email me at info@griffin-motorsports.com with your list of other goodies you need and we would be happy to pass on custom discount code if possible.

Is this pricing per cat?

Yes, the cost shown is “per cat” so unless you are buying a 6-pack and splitting the $240 to $360 discount and products with your buddies, then please make sue you select a qty. of (2).
