OEM Gen V LT4 Low Side Fuel Pump
OEM Gen V LT4 / ZL1 Low-Side Fuel Pump Module. GM #85170844
More air needs more fuel. Start at the tank.
A supercharger, camshaft or higher ethanol blend can quickly change what your Camaro needs from its fuel system. Bigger injectors and a stronger high-pressure pump get plenty of attention, and the pump buried inside the tank deserves that same consideration.
The genuine GM LT4 / ZL1 Low-Side Fuel Pump Module is the same in-tank module we include in our LT4 Fuel System Upgrade Bundle, offered separately for customers assembling their fuel system one component at a time.
Whether you need a matching replacement for your ZL1 or are planning a compatible LT1-to-LT4 fueling conversion, this module puts genuine GM hardware at the beginning of the fuel path.
Quick Take
Genuine GM low-side fuel pump module, part number 85170844.
Electric in-tank assembly for compatible sixth-generation Camaro applications.
Useful for matching ZL1 replacements and selected LT1 fuel-system conversions.
Pump strainer and tank-mounting seal included.
Some LT1 applications already use this module; check your existing part number before ordering it as an upgrade.
Fuel-pump controller, external wiring harness, tank locking ring and additional conversion hardware are not included.
The High Side Starts With the Low Side
Your Camaro’s direct-injection system delivers fuel in stages. The electric pump in the tank supplies the engine-mounted high-pressure fuel pump, which raises the pressure for the direct injectors.
As engine speed increases, the mechanical pump has less time to fill between pumping events. Adequate low-side supply helps it receive the fuel it needs during that shorter window.
That is why we look at the complete combination. The in-tank pump, high-pressure pump, injectors and calibration all need to support the same fuel demand. A low-side upgrade addresses the supply feeding the mechanical pump; its value depends on where your existing system is running out of capacity.
LT1 vs. LT4: Understanding the Flow Figures
Chevrolet Performance’s crate-engine fuel-system guidance recommends:
Naturally aspirated LT1: 45 US gallons per hour at 58 psi, approximately 170 LPH.
Supercharged LT4: 65 US gallons per hour at 72 psi, approximately 246 LPH.
Those figures illustrate the different supply requirements. They are crate-engine system recommendations, rather than measured output ratings for this particular module, and they are specified at different pressures.
Actual pump delivery depends on operating pressure, voltage and the installed system. Your tuner should evaluate actual low-side pressure against commanded pressure under load.
Factory Hardware With a Place in Your Build
For a matching ZL1 application, this module provides a genuine GM replacement with the specified factory mounting and connection arrangement. For a compatible LT1 conversion, it can form part of a coordinated upgrade alongside the appropriate high-pressure pump and injectors.
Planning an ethanol-focused or substantially higher-output combination? Higher ethanol blends increase fuel-volume demand. Review your intended fuel, power goal and complete system with GMS before choosing the pump. A higher-capacity solution such as our Katech Dual Drop-In Low-Side Fuel Pump may be the better match.
What’s in the Box?
(1) Genuine GM 85170844 low-side fuel pump module with strainer.
(1) Tank-mounting gasket/seal.
(1) Optional GMS Back Seat Access Hatch (for easy pump install / service access)
The high-pressure pump, injectors, separate pump controller, external wiring, tank locking ring, GMS access hatch and any additional tank-conversion parts are sold separately.
Fitment & Conversion Notes
2017–2024 Camaro ZL1 coupe, LT4: For vehicles using this module or a verified superseded application.
2017–2024 Camaro SS coupe, LT1, and 2020–2024 Camaro LT1 coupe: Application-dependent replacement or conversion use; confirm the VIN, existing module and tank configuration.
2016 Camaro SS, convertibles, CTS-V, Corvette and engine-swap applications: Contact GMS for a separate application review before ordering.
An SS conversion may require ZL1-style jet-pump or internal fuel-transfer components, depending on the existing tank arrangement. Those additional conversion parts are not included.
The engine designation alone does not establish fuel-tank module fitment.
Installation & Future Service
Follow the vehicle-specific GM service information for removal, installation and verification. Calibration requirements depend on whether you are replacing a matching module or changing the fuel-system configuration.
If you enjoy wrenching on your Camaro as much as driving it, consider our GMS Back Seat Fuel Pump Access Hatch for compatible coupes. Once properly installed, it provides access for future pump service and upgrades. The hatch requires creating an access opening and is sold separately.
