Katech LT Dry Sump Oil Pump
Katech Gen. V LT1/LT4/LT5 High-Capacity Scavenge Dry Sump Oil Pump
The ULTIMATE peace of mind upgrade…
Every pull, every lap and wide-open-throttle run depends on keeping oil moving through the engine and getting it back to the tank. When you’re investing in a camshaft, cylinder heads or a forged rotating assembly, the oiling system deserves a place in that build plan.
The Katech KAT-A7092 upgrades both the pressure and scavenge sections of the Gen. V LT dry-sump pump. It brings increased scavenging capability, revised pressure performance and a billet steel gear to the combination.
Quick Take
Application: Factory dry-sump LT1, LT4 and LT5 engines.
What’s included: One new Katech KAT-A7092 oil pump assembly. No core required.
Best considered during: A performance engine build, rebuild or any other work that provides access to the oil pump.
Why the Return Trip Matters
A dry-sump system stores its working oil supply in a separate reservoir. The pump has two distinct jobs:
Pressure: Draw oil from the reservoir and supply the engine’s lubrication circuit.
Scavenge: Recover oil draining into the sump and return it to the reservoir.
Effective scavenging helps limit oil accumulating around the rotating assembly. That matters because the crankshaft can churn through excess oil, creating drag and mixing air into it. Keeping the sump cleared supports the purpose of the dry-sump system: managing oil throughout the complete circuit.
The scavenge section also handles air mixed with the returning oil. Its capacity describes the return side of the system; it does not describe the oil volume delivered to the bearings.
Katech Performance
Up to 53.6% greater scavenge capacity.
Up to 45% higher oil pressure at 3,000 rpm.
Up to 25% higher oil pressure at 6,000 rpm.
These are manufacturer-reported improvements. Actual pressure depends on oil temperature, viscosity, engine clearances and calibration. The pressure percentages apply at the stated engine speeds.
Billet Steel Where It Counts
Katech goes to great lengths to replace the factory powdered-metal gear with a precision-machined 4140 billet steel gear for ultimate durability.
The pump also retains factory oil-pressure control solenoid functionality, preserving the system’s electronic pressure control. It works with the factory front cover or Katech’s compatible billet VVT-delete cover, giving builders flexibility around the rest of the combination.
Vehicle Fitment
For vehicles retaining the compatible factory dry-sump configuration:
2014–2019 Corvette Stingray Z51: LT1.
2017–2019 Corvette Grand Sport: LT1.
2015–2019 Corvette Z06: LT4.
2019 Corvette ZR1: LT5.
Confirm the oiling system before ordering. Factory wet-sump Camaro, CTS-V and non-Z51 Stingray applications require a different pump. This listing does not cover C8 LT2/LT6 engines or LS-series dry-sump engines.
Installation & Calibration
Follow current Katech guidance and vehicle-specific GM service information for installation, sealing, priming and startup checks.
Have your engine builder match the pump to the engine’s clearances, oil selection and intended use.
Calibration changes may be required to address oil-pump diagnostic trouble codes associated with the revised pressure characteristics.
For engine swaps or modified oiling systems, verify compatibility with the complete system before purchasing.
Don’t Forget the Rest of Your Build
Already opening the engine for a camshaft upgrade or rebuild? Review the timing set, lifters, fasteners and oiling components together. Each deserves attention while access is available.
Let us know what you’re building, your intended rpm range and how you use the car and we’ll help you choose supporting components that make sense for the complete combination.
