DEI Spark Plug Boots

from $75.00
sale

If your like me, one of the first mods you did to your beloved 6th Gen. Camaro ZL1 was a full exhaust system which “for me” included a beautiful set of Stainless Steel American Racing Headers. Although I had them coated, the heat generated by my LT4 was more than enough to melt my plug wires, So I started researching a quality spark plug book, and our search looked no further than the heat management specialists at DEI.

As you may know, upgrading to long tube stainless steel headers is a great bolt on modification for the LT4’s supercharged engine, but they come with draw backs. The most notable being the thinner wall tubing which not only allow for alot more engine noise to escape, but more detrimental is the HEAT. Having significant less thermal mass over the cast iron OEM manifolds, all tubular headers will radiate a significant amount more heat which can lead to increased surface temps upwards of 300F+ or more and surrounding ambient temps climbing 20%. This is clearly NOT good for surrounding brake lines, spark plug wires, fuel lines, and more.

DEI Titanium Protect-A-Boots are the latest in thermal protection technology for spark plug boot protectors. Developed from a unique material mined from lava rock, stranded and woven into a proprietary weave for added durability and strength, yet is pliable enough to provide a universal fit for straight or angled boots. Titanium Protect-A-Boots are naturally resistant to heat, chemicals, abrasions and contaminants, and are engineered to withstand temperatures up to 1800°F (983°C) of direct heat. Camaro ZL1 engine compartments are known for extreme heat that can put spark plug boots and wires at risk due to the excessive heat generated from the exhaust manifold and headers can cause hardening and cracking of ignition wires and boots that could lead to arching, engine misfire and potential ignition system failure.

DEI Titanium Protect-A-Boots, with LR technology, are engineered to handle extreme heat, providing the ultimate protection for today's high voltage ignition systems for many applications including automotive, marine and powersports. The color and weave work together to give DEI's Titanium Protect-A-Boots a "cool" carbon fiber appearance that looks great under the hood – ideal for race, street, show cars and off road vehicles. Ultimate protection for spark plug boots & wires Withstands heat up to 1800°F (983°C). The 6’’ Titanium Protect-A-Boots come with a reinforcement ring at the base for easy plug removal during maintenance.

Choose between RED and Titanium below, and “with ring” or “ringless” depending on the OD of your particular spark plug wire. Note: RED only comes “with ring”
