Katech Gen V LT & Wet-Sump LS Timing Chain Guide

More than making power. Building confidence.

Building a better LT engine takes more than a bigger horsepower number. It’s also about addressing the small components that support the entire combination. Upgraded fasteners, lifters, oil pump, and timing chain, all contribute to a more complete build.

That’s where the Katech KAT-7705 Timing Chain Guide comes in. This inexpensive upgrade replaces the factory guide inside the compatible GM timing chain tensioner housing with Katech’s wear and temperature resistant replacement.

If you’re investing in a camshaft upgrade or engine rebuild, you’re already putting time and money into improving your engine. Addressing the timing chain guide while everything is apart is another opportunity to strengthen the combination and give an easily overlooked component the attention it deserves.

Choose Your Configuration

  • Katech Guide Only — KAT-7705: Includes one Katech replacement timing chain guide. Choose this option when retaining a serviceable, compatible GM tensioner housing.

  • GM Tensioner Kit + Katech Guide: Includes the GM 12630107 tensioner kit with bolt and gasket, plus the Katech KAT-7705 replacement guide. Purchase a fresh GM assembly and the upgraded guide together.

Upgrade the Guide for more peace of mind.

The Katech guide installs into the compatible factory GM tensioner housing, allowing you to upgrade the guide while retaining a serviceable housing.

Prefer to start fresh? Select the combined package for a new GM tensioner kit and the Katech guide in one order. Inspect the timing chain, sprockets, and tensioner housing during installation. A properly maintained timing system starts with making sure all its components are in good condition.

Created out of necessity.

Small components deserve serious engineering, especially when you’re asking more from your engine. The factory LT timing chain tensioner uses a plastic guide and metal spring arrangement that can experience cracking and wear under increased loading and fatigue. Katech developed the KAT-7705 as a durable replacement for the factory guide, using wear- and temperature-resistant material that installs into the original GM tensioner housing. For builders investing in a camshaft upgrade or full rebuild, it’s an inexpensive opportunity to address an overlooked factory component and give the small details the same attention as the big upgrades.
